wow first blog!

Okay so I haven't ever blogged before, actually I haven't even read one either. i just wanted to keep a wee record of our adventures here in Connecticut. You never know how long these things will last. We do love it here though and hope to stay for a while. We just need to convince immigration and visa control...

we had snow for the first time the other day. It was the first time that the little boys had seen snow and with huge excitement we got coats on and ran outside at 8am. There was quite a bit falling from the sky and it settled on the ground without melting immediately. They tried to get some on their tongues and threw small soft snow balls at each other (basty didn't like that bit). The three of them desperately eeked out some sledding down a small hill which unfortunately ended at the stone wall. Sebastians knees met the stone wall too. He doesn't love snow anymore.
Jordy and Avalon stayed outside for a while and built a sculptural version of a snowman while I waved merrily from the warmth of inside.

We have woken to many a frosty morning and laugh as the steam comes out of our mouths while we wait for the school bus.

The marvellous yellow school bus, what a fantastic invention, just like on TV. You wait at the end of your driveway with a cup of tea and wave the kids goodbye, off they go... and in the afternoon, voila they are back again. You don't even have to get out of your dressing gown, magic.

Most of the houses around us have put up their Christmas lights and decorations. I think I will be shamed into dressing our house too. It will become obvious if I don't. It is pretty to look at but it seems like a waste of money to me. I would rather spend the money decorating the tree we will have inside or on gifts for the kids. Not on the humongous electricity bill we will get or the hundreds of dollars it will cost to buy the bloody things. But we will stand out, will we be the only house in Fairfield with no decorations? Will we be know as the bah humbug family? will the kids be jeered at and teased at school? Will our house be egged in disgust?

You cant hide from a naked house.
